O Woman Great Is Your Faith! Let It Be To You As You Desire

Image
A story was told about a woman in the book of Matthew chapter 15 who had a demon-possessed daughter. This lady who wasn't an Israelite, heard about Jesus and decided to go and ask Him for help so that her daughter would be delivered. When she got to the Master, she presented her case before Him and he replied, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of Israel" .  She did not take that as an answer but persisted and started worshiping Jesus saying, "Lord help me". Jesus replied, " It is not good to take the children's bread and give it to the dogs." This lady's reply was astonishing. She said, "Yes, Lord yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."  This lady didn't take the reply of Jesus to heart by turning away and leaving with the problems she brought to Jesus. She didn't not only accept to be called a dog but also termed herself as a little dog .  When our faith is tested, we often

PROMISE LESS; SURPRISE MORE

Image
Today, as I read Matthew 14 for my quiet time, I recounted times when I made promises I couldn't fulfill and one day, I resolved to throw surprises instead of making promises that would be difficult to keep. In this scripture, Herod's wife's daughter danced beautifully before him on his birthday. This made him extremely happy; right before his nobles, he promised to give her whatever she asked.  This young lady went to ask for advice from her mother and she was given a very wicked advice; to ask for the head of John the Baptist on a platter. At that time, John had been arrested by Herod because he spoke against the king who had taken someone's wife to become his. This lady was Herodias; the wife of Herod's brother, Phillip. Herod himself wanted to kill John but he was scared of the multitude because John was respected as a prophet of God. Though the king was sorry about this devastating request, he had to grant it because he had vowed in the presence of his nobles

Lady Burnt By So Called Friends

Image
I watched a soul-crushing documentary on how a white lady was burnt alive. This lady ran to a neighbor's house screaming for help because she was burnt by some people to the extent that the neighbor could not identify whether she was white or black.  The man called the police and an ambulance came and carried her to the hospital. On the way, she said, "Will I make it? What will happen to my two children? I thought we had made up." She lived in a trailer park with some people and was planning to move out to start life afresh in some other place.  The police came to the trailer park where she lived and knocked on the door of her next-door neighbor. Upon seeing the police, they turned off the lights and refused to open the door. They finally opened up after about an hour when the police persisted in the knocking. They were questioned and interviewed but their reactions were rather surprising.  Two ladies and a man were questioned at first. Lady A acted like the protector o

It Is Not By Might

Image
‭‭Zechariah 4:6 NKJV‬‬ [6] So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts. The Lord our God is All Powerful and we are His children therefore we have the grace to do what we are granted the ability to. You know we are alive on this earth and everything seems normal but, breathing in itself is blessing from God. We are alive because of His grace upon our lives. Today's message is simple; God is the Author and Finisher of our faith. Therefore we must acknowledge Him at all times and go to Him when we need help because, He is our Source, our Refuge and our Strength.

Why Believers Should Be Hot

Image
Yesterday we touched on how the believer can be hot in the spirit. We stated that we need to put on the full armor of God to stand in the spirit and against the wiles of the devil. Today, we will discuss the essence of spiritual heat in the Lord. 1. To draw closer to God - In the Bible, Rev 3:16, God speaks to the church of Laodecia that they are neither hot nor cold. So He advised them to choose one side else he would vomit them out of His mouth. This clearly shows us that God loves it when we are all out for Him and not when we dilly-dally in the faith. This will draw us closer to God because our God Himself is a consuming fire. The Bible also teaches us that when the Holy Spirit comes upon us we will be baptized with Him and with Fire. So being hot in the Lord draws us towards Him. The spiritual heat must be ordained by the Holy Spirit Himself. We cannot go out and be on fire without Him. 2. To stand against the wiles of the devil - We live in a spiritual world and everything we see

How Believers Can Be Hot In The Spirit.

Image
Spiritual hotness was mentioned in the book of Revelations 3:15-16, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Spiritual hotness in the Lord can be attained by first confessing with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believing that God raised Him from the dead and secondly, by putting on the full amour of God. How do we put on the full amour of God? The Bible says, we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. It goes on to say we should take on the whole amour of God, to be able to withstand the devil. The full armor comprises our spiritual weapons in the Christian faith. Eph 6:10-14: 1.        Gird your waist with truth; John 14:6 ‘Jesus said to him, “I am the way the truth and the light, no one comes

Expressing your love for God through Deep Worship

Image
God is love and He has shown His love to us in so many ways. His love for us never ceases so it is amazing to reciprocate His love and love Him back. One way we can express our love for Him is through worship.  The Lord is all-powerful and sees through our innermost being and decerns our thoughts and the meditation of our hearts. It is necessary to worship God with our entire being. Jesus mentioned in the book of John 4:23-23, “The hour is coming and now is when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24  God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” True worship requires focus on the Lord and total surrender. Worship comprises more than the apportioned time on Sunday for worship. It is a lifestyle, and our lives, in general, must bring honor and glory to the Father at all times. This is true worship. Stay blessed.

God’s Power Over Unclean Spirits.

Image
Our All-Powerful God in His mercy gave a special grace to His disciples; The power to cast out unclean spirits. Unclean spirits are fallen angels who rebelled against God and followed the devil. Let’s look at some verses in the Bible. In this first one, Jesus was speaking; Luke 10:18, ‘ And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightening from heaven ”’. Revelation 12:9 NKJV [9] So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Job 2:2 NKJV [2] And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it .” The devil was cast to the earth after the rebellion. But in the next verse (19) of our main scripture Luke 10 , Jesus said, “Behold I give you authority to trample over serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing sha

Laboring in God's farm.

Image
On a farm, plants are cultivated and kept well to ensure good fruit bearing. During harvest, the farmer and his laborers reap the fruits of the land. God's farm is the earth, and the plants are likened to us; His creation.   Jesus made a prayerful statement in Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV [37] Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.  [38] Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His harvest.” In this chapter, Jesus was healing the sick, raising the dead, opening the eyes of the blind and Jesus saw that the people were scattered like sheep without a shepherd, and He was moved with compassion for them. Then Jesus told His disciples to pray to God the Father for more laborers to be sent into the harvest to reap more souls for God, heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, and guide His people. God desires to use as many people as possible in His harvest but it boils down to our availability for Him to use

Planning: The Initiation of Success

Image
Planning is the first step in accomplishing any given task in a perfect way. To achieve a goal, the steps outlined in the plan must be followed. In Luke 14, Jesus touches on planning in one of His Sermons;  ‭‭Luke 14:28-32 NKJV‬‬  [28] For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it—  [29] lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him,  [30] saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’?  [31] Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?  [32] Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace.  There is a saying that "Failure to plan is planning to fail". This means, it is very necessary to plan our activities and goals, in order to achieve them

The Healing Gift

Image
There are times where we desire healing for the sick and we pray for them. Today, I read about the healing miracles of Jesus in Matthew 8 and thought to myself, "Jesus said, we will do greater works than these if we believe." So this grace has been promised in God's word.  ‭‭John 14:12 NKJV‬‬ [12] “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. The Bible teaches us that, when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, we will receive power including the power to pray for the sick for them to be healed. Acts 1:8.  Let us thank God for the gifts He has promised us in His word, and they will be made manifest in our lives and in the lives of others.

God's word; Journey from a Seed To A Fruitful Tree.

Image
In God's word, a parable was said by Jesus on different types of soils that receive seed from a farmer. This is likened to a person who receives the Word of God and what goes on in the heart that receives the Word. There are four categories of people who hear the word of God.  1. The category that fell by the wayside. These seeds were trampled down and devoured by the birds. The deeper meaning given to this category is the people who hear the gospel, and before they even believe, the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they are unable to believe and be saved. Luke 8:5,12. 2. The second category fell on rocky soil. These seeds withered away as soon as they sprang up because they lacked moisture. Jesus explained that these ones receive the word with joy when they hear it. They believe but just for a while, and fall away in times of temptation. Luke 8:6,13 3. The third category fell amongst thorns. The seeds in this category of seeds were choked up by seeds

Is Doing The Will of God Necessary to make Heaven?

Image
The wrong notion Many people say having Jesus is the only requirement to making it to heaven. Well did Jesus say in Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’  Regarding the concept of Holiness as a requirement to enter the kingdom of God, there are 2 extremes. This analysis is on those who have believed and received Jesus into their hearts. The first believe it is their Self Righteousness that will help them to go to Heaven This category believes that they must do good things by themselves to help them go to heaven. We must understand that there is nothing we can do on our own to please God on this earth. This is why Jesus gave us the

Heavenly Treasures.

Image
In the word of God, specifically in Matthew 6, we are admonished to lay up for ourselves heavenly treasures and not earthly treasures because the things of this earth will surely pass away but the word of God will last forever.  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:19‭-‬21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ [19] “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; [20] but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. [21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.6.19.NKJV What are heavenly treasures ? The Bible tells us in Mark 13:31 that,  [31] Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. From this scripture, we know that, the word of God is an eternal and heavenly treasure. Constant reading and meditation of God's word is the way we store up the treasure of the Word which cannot be destroyed.   Mark 16: 15-1

Poor in spirit.

Image
It is wonderful to think that a kind of nature deemed as poor is admired by God. We are also told that Jesus became poor so that we may become rich. This poverty spoken about in 2 Corinthians 8:9, signifies the humble nature of Christ as He took on human form and gave His life for us. The riches we obtain are the gift of salvation and God's grace.  In Matthew 5:2, we are told in God's word that those who are poor in spirit shall inherit the kingdom of God. So the question now is, who are the poor in spirit?  The poor in spirit are those who are humble in spirit and live their lives depending on God, and acknowledging God as their Source. These people are characterized by love, patience, peace, the fear of God, and love for God.   Today we are encouraged to seek to be poor in spirit because this is the kind of nature admired by God.

Nuggets of Wisdom for Life.

Image
Many times, in life, we need some nuggets of wisdom to guide us through our journey. Today, the following pieces were selectively handed over to me by a sage man I know. The words of wisdom are found in the following 4 scriptures:  The first, Daniel chapter 1 and chapter 2 narrates how the people of Jerusalem were sent to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar and he chose among them the nobles, kings’ descendants, young men in whom no blemish was, wise, had understanding, and were able to serve in the king’s palace. Amongst the chosen were the Hebrew boys Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. The Bible says in Daniel 1:17, “As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams”. In the second chapter, Daniel narrated the king's dream by divine word of wisdom from God, and it landed him in a promotion. The second, is Proverbs 22:29; Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand be

Spread the Word.

Image
One of the greatest commands in the world and one of my favorite scriptures are Matthew 28:18-20. And Jesus came and spoke to them saying, “All authority has been given unto me in Heaven and on earth, Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have taught you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. This is a command to all the disciples of Christ. One can ask, “When do I qualify to be a disciple of Jesus?” One is a disciple of Jesus if they have received Jesus into their lives as their Lord and personal Savior and are following the Lord. This command to spread the gospel is not only to the Pastors, Apostles, Teachers, Prophets, and Evangelists but to all who profess Christ Jesus as Lord. If the gospel had not been spread by the early church, many Christians today would still be lost in darkness. God has given us this mandate becaus

Yearn for the Fire.

Image
The Lord promised us the gift of the Holy Spirit before Jesus came to earth in the flesh. In Joel 2:28, God said, 28  “And afterward,     I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy,     your old men will dream dreams,     your young men will see visions. Jesus promised to send The Holy Spirit to be with us when he leaves; John 14:16-17 16  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—  17  the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him; he lives with you and will be [ c ]  in you.  God is a faithful and true Father of ours who never fails to fulfill His promises. To receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, we must desire to have Him, and long for Him and we will have Him.  Now the bible talks about the baptism of the Holy Spirit and Fire. This is another dimension in the promise which comes with a whole package of the gifts of

Goal Oriented? Do Not Look At Others.

Image
Focus and no distraction are the pillars which can help you to achieve a goal you desire. When you begin to look at others, you may start comparing yourself to them, you get distracted from your original plans, or you may even forget what you planned to do.  Do not look at others does not mean don't aspire to reach certain heights people have reached, it doesn't mean do not take mentors for guidance, it simply means do not think of what others will say about you when you are striving to achieve your goals which are in line with the will of God. In the same vein, when we go to God's presence to receive from Him, FOCUS on Him and forget about every one and everything and look up to Jesus and we will receive from Him.  The word of God says in Psalm 125:1-2, that, ‭‭NKJV‬‬ [1] Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens. [2] Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look to

My Testimony

Image
Today, I want to thank the Lord for His goodness and mercies. I misplaced my phone on a trip but God preserved it for me. He touched someone to pick it up and preserve it for me.  I just want to say I have a very Big GOD and I want the whole world to know that my God is the best.

Why Are Some People Born Disabled?

Image
God made me understand today that there is more to a person than just the physical body we see. God manifests Himself and His power through some circumstances we see physically, which make us believe that a specific group of people: the handicapped, lame, blind, deformed are underprivileged and unfortunate. So I asked the Lord, why is it so with some people? Why are these people made a way that is different from other people on the earth? What's the reason?  He made me understand that Heuses  those we see as disabled, handicapped and underprivileged in society to show forth His glory so that that the 'whole world' have no excuse not revere the Lord and also for people to realise, that there is more to the the physical we see. I saw a man who is disabled going for missions and that is when I understood exactly what God explained to me.  There was a similar incident in the book of John 9:2, where the disciples asked Jesus why a certain man was born blind. Jesus' reply was

The Apple of His Eye.

Image
God expresses His love to the people of Jerusalem in Zechariah chapter 2 beautifully. The angel of the Lord brought this message from God , Zachariah 2:5  And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.’    God is love and He expresses His love in diverse ways. One of the greatest expressions of His love is the gift of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ our Savior.   John 3:16,   For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.   In today’s passage, we see God expressing His love in a promise to protect Israel and honor her. God made a profound statement in Zachariah 2:8, “For he who touches you touches the apple of my eye. This shows that God cherished and loved these people. The psalmist prayed in Psalm 11:8, asking God to keep him as the apple of His eye and to hide him under the shadow of His wings. As believers, we must remember that God loves us

Our Merciful God

Image
There are many lessons from the book of Jonah. Today we are going to look at the mercy God shows and His goodwill towards us. We learned in the previous post that Jonah was sent to preach to the people of Nineveh and warn them to repent so they would not be destroyed. The people of Nineveh repented and sought mercy from the Lord, He forgave them and did not destroy the city.  ‭‭Jonah‬ ‭3:8-10 ‬ ‭NKJV‬‬  [8] But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let everyone turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. [9] Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish? [10] Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way, and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it. This shows us that our God is merciful and when we ask for forgiveness and repent from our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. In Psa

The motive

Image
The Motive In Obedience. Today, we will look at the need to have the right motive even in our quest to obey God. In the bible, Jonah obeyed the Lord by going to preach to the people of Nineveh to repent in order for the city not to be overthrown in 40 days.  After the people repented, and God relented from the destruction He planned to bring to the city.  ‭‭Jonah‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ [10] Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it . Though Jonah went to warn the people, he wanted the city to be destroyed according to what he proclaimed probably because he wanted to be seen as a true prophet of God who prophesies, and it comes to pass.  ‭‭Jonah‬ ‭4:1‭-‬3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ [1] But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry. [2] So he prayed to the Lord, and said, “Ah, Lord, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; f

Swallowed by Leviathan

Image
In the Belly of a Fish Are there times when God compels some people to comply with His will? Yes. In the times of Jonah, God sent Jonah to go to Nineveh and warn the people to turn away from their wicked ways else, in order for then not to be destroyed. Jonah chose to flee from God. It was when God caused him to be swallowed by a big fish that he remembered that there is a God who can deliver him from his natural prison. This was his prayer in Jonah chapter 2. 1 Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish’s belly.  2 And he said: “I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, And He answered me. “Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice. 3 For You cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the floods surrounded me; All Your billows and Your waves passed over me. 4 Then I said, ‘I have been cast out of Your sight; Yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.’ 5 The waters surrounded me, even to my soul; The deep closed around me; Weeds were wr

The Agreement

Image
Is life a place of chance or driven by intention? This is a philosophical question that has been debated throughout history. Today we will talk about whether you will allow the people you call friends, result from chance or intention. There is a saying that goes, "Birds of the same feathers flock together". Believe it or not, you are defined by the calibre of friends you have. If you are purposeful, you will attract and be attracted to people of purpose. If you are godly, you will attract and be attracted to the godly. The Bible says in ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭15:33‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ [33] Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits". We are admonished in order not to be deceived that we can flock with a different kind and not be influenced in their line of direction. Let's take a look at this question found in Amos 3:3 , which sums up this message. ‭ [3] Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?

The Oil

Image
The Oil We have one of the best promises ever in the book of Joel 2:28. “And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.  The promise of the Holy Spirit. Jesus also confirmed this promise in the book of John 14:16.   And I will pray the Father, and   He will give you another   [ a ] Helper, that He may abide with you forever—  The Holy Spirit is the gift God has given us in the form of His Presence, which abides with us forever. In the word of God, Jesus called Him our Helper, the Spirit of truth, Our Comforter, Guide, Deliverer, and Healer. In as much as we have the promise of the gift of the Holy Spirit, we cannot be distant from and receive the fullness of His glory. We are to build a close relationship with the Holy Spirit. I often ponder on the marvelous work of the Holy Spirit during the time of the Apostles and the time of the great

Gold’en Fire

Image
Today, we will explore how fire affects gold and wood, and how this is relevant to our daily lives. According to the Bible, our deeds will be tested at the end of our time here on Earth to assess their quality. The testing standard will be the ability of our work to withstand fire. The Bible compares our work to six different materials: gold, silver, precious stones, wood, straw, and hay. Out of these six, only the works made of gold, silver, or precious stones can withstand fire and are considered valuable in the sight of God. The Bible also mentions fire as a purifier of gold. God's word is like fire, purifying our lives on earth and burning away the chaff. How can we produce works of value while on Earth? The value of our work for the Lord greatly depends on our motive behind it. If we do things to gain praise from others, such as donating to the poor just to be seen, then according to the Word of God, our work has little to no value. In Matthew 6:1, Jesus said “Take hee
