The Apple of His Eye.

God expresses His love to the people of Jerusalem in Zechariah chapter 2 beautifully. The angel of the Lord brought this message from God, Zachariah 2:5 And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.’

God is love and He expresses His love in diverse ways. One of the greatest expressions of His love is the gift of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ our Savior.  John 3:16,  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
In today’s passage, we see God expressing His love in a promise to protect Israel and honor her. God made a profound statement in Zachariah 2:8, “For he who touches you touches the apple of my eye. This shows that God cherished and loved these people.

The psalmist prayed in Psalm 11:8, asking God to keep him as the apple of His eye and to hide him under the shadow of His wings. As believers, we must remember that God loves us deeply. We can find safety and security by resting in the wings of His love and staying under the shadow of the Almighty. When God tells us that He loves and cherishes us, we can trust that we are in good hands.

Today, let us rest and bask in the wonderful love of our Heavenly Father. If He calls us the apple of His eye, then we are highly cherished.
