"I do" is a statement that crowns weddings, representing a pledge and a covenant between God and the couple. Though only two words, it seals a promise that fulfills God's purpose for humanity in marriage. Today, we reflect on sealing a promise to fulfill God's purpose for our lives—hence the title, 'Dear God, "I do."' I n the Bible there was a young man named Jeremiah. God's word and plan for his life were revealed to him while he was still young. His initial response to God was not "I do"; instead, he made excuses for why he could not fulfill what God was asking of him. Scripture reading : Habakkuk 2 Habakkuk 2:2-5 ESV [2] And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. [3] For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Matthew 7:21, "Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord will inherit the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in...
