The Temptation.

In a world filled with many desirable things, it is easy to identify that not all things that entice us are pleasing to God. Sometimes the temptations are so strong that we fall prey. Today, we will discuss the ultimate antidote to overcoming temptations.

The Psalmist says in Psalm 119:11, "Your word have I hidden in my heart that I may not sin against you." The word of God is one of the paramount weapons used in overcoming temptations. The word must abide in our hearts though meditation and constant reading.

We also overcome temptation through prayer. Communication with God helps us to build a relationship with Him. A good and personal relationship with God helps us to know Him well and do things pleasing unto him.

It is essential to spend good (quality) time with God daily in the word and prayer. As the word of God encourages us to pray without ceasing, we have the privilege to communicate with God at any momment. Whether we are on our way to class, having a meal, studying, or even cooking we can maintain an ongoing conversation with Him. Therefore we should actively invest in building a deep relationship with Him.

Here are a few scriptures on temptation we can meditate on, and use to pray.

‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭10:13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

[13] No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

‭‭James‬ ‭1:12‭-‬14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

[12] Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. [13] Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. [14] But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

Psalms‬ ‭119:133‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

[133] Direct my steps by Your word, And let no iniquity have dominion over me.

Psalms‬ ‭37:31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

[31] The law of his God is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide.
